Who the remote worker visa is for

The E33G is Indonesia's digital nomad route. It is meant for people who will live in Indonesia while doing their job for a company established outside the country. During the stay you may also travel in and out while the re-entry permit is valid, and do tourism and visits.

It is a limited stay visa, so on arrival it becomes a one-year ITAS. No sponsor or guarantor is required.

Income requirement

The special requirements are bank records showing salary or earnings of at least USD 60,000 per year and an employment agreement with a company established outside Indonesia. As for other limited stay visas, you also provide a three-month bank statement showing at least USD 2,000 or equivalent.

Applicants employed by a company outside Indonesia can use their payroll deposits as bank records, provided the annual total reaches the USD 60,000 equivalent.

Fees

The one-year package costs IDR 7,000,000: limited stay visa IDR 500,000, category II verification IDR 2,000,000, limited stay permit up to one year IDR 3,000,000 and re-entry permit up to one year IDR 1,500,000.

How the application works

Open an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id before applying, then upload the passport, statements, photo, CV, itinerary, employment contract and income records. Immigration checks the documents, verifies payment, profiles and approves you; the visa is issued five working days after payment.

Enter within 90 days. The limited stay permit and re-entry permit are issued automatically once the officer admits you.

  1. Confirm that your employer is a company established outside Indonesia and that your income reaches USD 60,000 a year.
  2. Collect the employment contract, bank records of your salary and a three-month bank statement.
  3. Create an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id and choose the E33G remote worker visa.
  4. Upload the documents and pay IDR 7,000,000 with the billing code.
  5. Download the e-Visa about five working days later and travel within 90 days.
  6. Receive the one-year ITAS at the border and file any extension online before it expires.

Rules during the stay

Work that does not match the stay permit is prohibited, which in practice means no employment by Indonesian companies. Selling goods or services is also prohibited unless the job itself requires it, and overstaying is not allowed.

The stay permit can be extended online through your e-Visa account or converted into another type of permit if your situation changes.
