Who needs a business visit visa

The C2 and D2 cover business meetings, purchasing goods, discussions and negotiations, signing business agreements and inspecting goods at offices, factories or production sites. Tourism and visiting friends or family are allowed during the same stay.

Attending a trade fair as an exhibitor, speaking at an event, auditing a company or installing machinery each have their own C-code visas (C11, C10, C17, C20), so check the visa list if your trip involves those activities.

The invitation letter

The key document is a letter, invitation or correspondence from the Indonesian government agency or private company explaining its relationship with you and the purpose of your visit. For the D2 a letter from an Indonesian spouse or parent with the family card is an accepted alternative.

The D2 additionally asks for a CV, a travel itinerary and the three-month bank statement showing at least USD 2,000.

Required documents

Identity

  • Recent colour photo taken within the last year.

Travel

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months (12 months for non-national travel documents).

Money

  • Three-month bank statement in your or your sponsor's name (D2: at least USD 2,000).

  • Letter or invitation from the Indonesian company or government agency explaining the relationship and purpose.

Fees

The C2 costs IDR 2,000,000: IDR 1,000,000 for the visa and IDR 1,000,000 verification fee. The D2 costs IDR 4,000,000 for one year, IDR 6,000,000 for two years and IDR 11,000,000 for five years, each including the IDR 1,000,000 verification fee.

Payment is made with the billing code generated after submission, through the designated banks.

Application and processing

Apply on evisa.imigrasi.go.id or, for the C2, at an Indonesian embassy or consulate. Immigration checks completeness, verifies payment, creates and verifies your profile, approves and issues the visa within five working days of payment.

Stays start on arrival and last up to 60 days, extendable online up to 180 days in total. A C2 stay can be converted into a limited stay permit; a D2 cannot.

  1. Ask your Indonesian business partner for a letter explaining the relationship and the purpose of your visit.
  2. Choose C2 for a single trip or D2 for repeated trips over 1, 2 or 5 years.
  3. Create an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id and upload the documents.
  4. Pay the visa and verification fees with the billing code.
  5. Receive the e-Visa within about five working days and enter within its validity.
  6. Extend online before day 60 if your business requires more time, up to 180 days.

Limits of a business visit

Business visitors may not sell goods or services in Indonesia or receive payment, wages or similar compensation from people or companies there. D2 holders are also barred from continuously supervising producers or sales operations; that kind of ongoing management needs a work or investor visa.

If you will be employed by an Indonesian entity, apply for the E23 work visa instead.
