Who the Second Home visa is for

The E33 is the self-sponsored long-stay visa for foreigners who want to live and settle in Indonesia and can show significant funds. There is no age limit and no requirement to work or invest in a business; the monetary guarantee replaces the usual sponsor.

Immigration classifies it among the golden visas. Applicants aged 55 or over can alternatively use the E33E retiree version with a lower USD 50,000 deposit.

The immigration guarantee

You must commit to one of two guarantees: a deposit of at least USD 130,000 or equivalent in a personal account at an Indonesian state-owned bank, or ownership of an apartment or condominium unit in Indonesia worth at least USD 1,000,000.

The guarantee has to be fulfilled and reported, with proof of ownership, to the immigration office that issued the permit within 90 days, and its value must stay at or above the committed amount for as long as the stay permit is valid. You also need a three-month bank statement showing at least USD 2,000.

Fees

For a stay of up to five years the total is IDR 13,000,000: visa IDR 500,000, verification IDR 2,000,000, five-year ITAS IDR 7,000,000 and five-year re-entry permit IDR 3,500,000. The official page does not list a separate ten-year fee. Fees are not refunded if the application is refused.

Applying

Create an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id, upload the passport, bank statement, photo, CV and travel history and itinerary, and the guarantee commitment. Immigration checks the file, verifies payment, profiles you and approves the visa within four working days of payment.

The visa must be used within 90 days. The ITAS and re-entry permit are issued automatically when you are admitted at the border.

  1. Decide whether you will meet the guarantee with a USD 130,000 deposit or a USD 1,000,000 apartment.
  2. Create an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id and select the E33 Second Home visa.
  3. Upload your documents and the guarantee commitment, then pay IDR 13,000,000 with the billing code.
  4. Receive the e-Visa (about four working days after payment) and enter Indonesia within 90 days.
  5. Open the deposit account at a state-owned bank or complete the property purchase.
  6. Report the proof of the guarantee to the issuing immigration office within 90 days and keep the value intact.
  7. Extend online before the permit expires, within the 10-year cap.

Extension and the 10-year limit

The first permit runs up to five years from the entry stamp. It can be extended online through your e-Visa account, but total time on this visa cannot exceed ten years. The permit can also be converted into another stay permit, and second-home holders are among the categories eligible to apply for a permanent stay permit (ITAP).

Living on a Second Home permit

Holders can travel in and out freely while the permit is valid, bring their family, and engage in tourism, shopping and visits. Work, education and other activities are permitted provided they are reported to the immigration office that issued the permit.

Overstaying, working outside the permit and selling goods or services outside authorised employment remain prohibited.
