Tajikistan work visa

To obtain an M visa, the employer must be a legal person holding a licence to attract foreign labour to Tajikistan and must submit a request, together with a copy of the employment contract or of a civil-law contract for work or services, unless legislation provides otherwise. The invitation confirmation issued by the Main Consular Department is the document on which the visa is then based.

Applications are filed through the electronic information network, at www.visa.gov.tj, and the printed form is submitted with a photo and the receipt for state duty and consular fees. The passport should not expire earlier than six months after the visa and needs two blank pages. A certificate of an HIV test is required for visas of more than three months, except for certain categories such as the investment visa. Visas are decided within 20 working days of a complete file, extendable by up to 10 working days, and fees are not refunded after a refusal.

The M visa is issued single-entry for the period stated in the invitation confirmation or in an instruction of the Main Consular Department, but not more than three months. It is extended for the requested period or for the term of the employment contract, up to one year.

The inviting organisation must notify the Main Consular Department within three working days of the end of the employment or service contract. The visa is then cancelled and an exit visa is issued for leaving Tajikistan. Foreigners must register with the internal affairs bodies within 10 working days of entry, unless they leave within that time or are exempt under an agreement; hosts and inviting organisations are responsible for the registration.

Family members, meaning the spouse, children and adopted children under 18, parents and other dependants, receive a matching visa marked with the suffix AO, provided they live together, but they may not work unless they change to a visa for their own activity. Tourist and transit visas are not issued as accompanying visas.
