Tajikistan visa on arrival

The Consular Department states that citizens of 140 countries can obtain a visa on arrival at the Consular Bureau of Dushanbe International Airport. Its country table flags eligibility separately for the visa on arrival and for the e-visa, so a nationality can qualify for one but not the other. Stateless persons and former citizens of Tajikistan can obtain visas under a simplified procedure, and bilateral agreements may create simplified procedures for other states. The Minister of Foreign Affairs can suspend simplified procedures temporarily on public order or reciprocity grounds.

Applications are filed through the electronic information network, at www.visa.gov.tj, and the printed form is submitted with a photo and the receipt for state duty and consular fees. The passport should not expire earlier than six months after the visa and needs two blank pages. A certificate of an HIV test is required for visas of more than three months, except for certain categories such as the investment visa. Visas are decided within 20 working days of a complete file, extendable by up to 10 working days, and fees are not refunded after a refusal.

Visa fees depend on the period: USD 15 for up to 3 days, USD 30 for up to 7 days, USD 40 for up to 14 days, USD 50 for up to a month, USD 70 for up to 3 months and USD 100 for up to 6 months, with USD 40 extra for multiple entry. Considering an application costs USD 1 per individual or USD 2 per person for legal entities.

The Ministry advises that some foreigners can get a visa at the airport after applying in advance at www.visa.gov.tj. For some visa types the Consular Bureau requires an invitation confirmation, issued by the Main Consular Department on the application of the inviting party for USD 10 per person; refusals of invitation confirmations are not explained. Labour (M) and study (O2) visas are among the categories the consular bureau can issue.

Foreigners must register with the internal affairs bodies within 10 working days of entry, unless they leave within that time or are exempt under an agreement; hosts and inviting organisations are responsible for the registration.
