The O2 visa is for study, scientific research and participation in language or professional development courses.

Application and processing

Applications are filed through the electronic information network, at www.visa.gov.tj, and the printed form is submitted with a photo and the receipt for state duty and consular fees. The passport should not expire earlier than six months after the visa and needs two blank pages. A certificate of an HIV test is required for visas of more than three months, except for certain categories such as the investment visa. Visas are decided within 20 working days of a complete file, extendable by up to 10 working days, and fees are not refunded after a refusal.

Issue and extension

Missions issue the O1 visa on the request of a Tajik educational institution, for up to three months. A multiple-entry O1 visa can be extended for the requested period or the term of the education contract, up to one year, by the Main Consular Department on the request of the education authority or the institution, with a copy of the admission order and, for university students, the student card and grade book. The O2 visa is issued by missions, Ministry representations or the airport bureau for up to three months and extended on the institution's request.

Family members

Family members, meaning the spouse, children and adopted children under 18, parents and other dependants, receive a matching visa marked with the suffix AO, provided they live together, but they may not work unless they change to a visa for their own activity. Tourist and transit visas are not issued as accompanying visas.

Restrictions

O1 visa holders may not engage in activities other than education and research. If an O1 student is expelled or leaves the institution, the visa is cancelled and an exit visa is issued. If a study visa holder engages in other activities, the Ministry can limit the stay at the request of the education authorities, cancel the visa and issue an exit visa.
