Who can use it
Three conditions apply together: you have reached the statutory retirement age in Latvia, you have sufficient means of subsistence, and you may enter Latvia under a visa-waiver agreement. OCMA’s guide lists the visa-free countries concerned, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Israel and several Balkan and Latin American states. Pensioners of other nationalities have to look at other grounds, for example as investors or as relatives of Latvian citizens.
Pension amount
Cabinet Regulation No. 225 requires a personal, regular pension of at least twice the average old-age pension paid in Latvia. OCMA’s current checklist puts this at EUR 1,101 a month; it was EUR 784 in 2022, so the figure follows the statistics. Each accompanying adult needs EUR 780 and each minor child EUR 234 a month. Health insurance must cover at least EUR 42,600.
Fees
