Who qualifies
The permit is for third-country nationals coming to do seasonal work in one of four sectors: crop production, forestry, animal husbandry or fishing. OIF’s page lists no nationality restriction for this permit. You need a pre-employment agreement or proof of employment with a Hungarian employer.
Housing and other documents
Accommodation must be proved by a land-registry extract not older than 30 days, a lease, a paid booking or a notarised host declaration, and must offer at least 6 m² of living space per person. Housing provided by the employer needs a clear lease, a rent that is not excessive and compliance with health and safety standards. Add proof of means, health coverage and travel proof.

Applying from abroad
Book a residence-permit appointment on the Hungarian consular booking system under the right purpose of stay, then lodge the OIF form and documents (originals and copies) at the Hungarian mission responsible for your place of residence, or the service provider it uses; an interview may follow. After approval a single-entry D visa valid for 3 months (30 days’ stay) is issued; you must enter within 3 months or the approval lapses.
Priority employers of national economic interest may file through Enter Hungary while the worker is abroad; since a recent change, the worker’s bilingual written consent is enough for the employer to submit, without consular signature authentication, but full representation still needs a power of attorney authenticated at the consulate.
- Find a Hungarian employer in agriculture, forestry, livestock or fishing and sign a pre-employment agreement.
- Make sure the housing meets the 6 m² per person rule and get the accommodation document.
- Book on the consular booking system, lodge the file at the Hungarian mission and pay EUR 110.
- Travel within 3 months of approval on the D visa and start work only with the named employer.
- Leave when the permit ends, or extend via Enter Hungary 90–30 days before expiry.
Rules during the stay
You may work only for the employer on the permit. If the job ends early, the permit becomes invalid from the sixth day after the employer reports it, and you must declare that you will leave the EU and Schengen area within 8 days. Address changes must be reported to the new regional directorate within 3 days. Extensions are filed in Hungary via Enter Hungary 90–30 days before expiry, with proof that taxes and contributions on your Hungarian income were paid.
Refusal and appeal
Appeal within 8 days of delivery, to the authority that decided or through the consulate where you applied. The appeal fee abroad is EUR 160; appeals filed late, without reasons or based on facts you knew before the decision are rejected without examination.
