Urgent ASAN e-visa and accelerated state-fee processing

In short

Azerbaijan has no premium visa centre, but its official fee tables buy speed. The urgent ASAN e-visa is issued within 3 hours, weekends and holidays included, for a fee most missions publish as USD 50, and the State Migration Service decides faster on stay extensions, residence permits and work permits when the higher state fee is paid.

Who can use the faster routes

The urgent e-visa is open only to nationals on the ASAN Visa list; visa-free travellers do not need it. The accelerated State Migration Service fees apply to every foreigner seeking a stay extension, residence or work permit in Azerbaijan, whatever their nationality.

Faster decisions at the State Migration Service

Under the Law on State Fee, the decision period depends on the fee paid. Adult stay extensions: AZN 50 (30 days) or AZN 100 (60 days) for a decision in 1 working day, instead of AZN 30 or 60 for 3 working days. Adult temporary residence for up to 1 year: AZN 160 within 15 working days instead of AZN 120 within 20.

Permanent residence for adults: AZN 450 for 35 days, AZN 400 for 40, AZN 350 for 50 and AZN 300 for 60 days. Work permits for up to 1 year, paid by the employer: AZN 1,400 within 10 working days, AZN 1,200 within 15 and AZN 1,000 within 20. Minors pay half the adult amount for residence permits and stay extensions.

Paying and collecting

For a permit, the processing period chosen on the form sets the fee. Get the payment code from the Service's electronic fee service, pay online and show the receipt when the decision or card is handed over. An unpaid fee 30 days after the decision period cancels the permit.

  1. Check that your nationality is on the ASAN Visa list; visa-free travellers need no e-visa.
  2. Choose the urgent service on evisa.gov.az at least 3 hours before arrival and pay by card.
  3. Print the e-visa and check every detail against your passport.
  4. For a permit, choose the processing period on the State Migration Service form.
  5. Pay the state fee online and present the receipt at collection.

Urgent e-visa

The urgent option on evisa.gov.az issues the e-visa within 3 hours, weekends and holidays included, against 3 working days for the standard service; apply at least 3 hours before arrival. Validity runs 90 days from the day of issue, with one entry and up to 30 days' stay; the passport must stay valid three months beyond expiry.

Most missions, among them the embassies in the Netherlands and the United States, list the urgent fee as USD 50 (standard USD 20); the embassy in New Delhi lists USD 60. The portal adds a USD 9 service fee and accepts only Visa or MasterCard, so check the total before paying.

Avoiding look-alike sites

The Foreign Ministry warns that only evisa.gov.az is official; copy sites charge extra service fees for the same e-visa. Problems with an application can be raised through the portal's contact page.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a premium lounge or VIP visa service?

No official premium visa centre is listed. Speed comes from the urgent e-visa and from the shorter decision periods in the state fee table.

How late can I apply for an urgent e-visa?

The portal requires the urgent application at least 3 hours before your planned arrival.

Do visa-free travellers need the urgent e-visa?

No. Citizens of the visa-free partner countries need no visa; the accelerated fees matter to them only for permits applied for in Azerbaijan.

When do I pay the residence permit fee?

The receipt is presented when the card is handed over. If the fee is not paid within 30 days after the decision period, the permit is cancelled.

Are fees lower for children?

Yes. Fees for minors on residence permits and stay extensions are half the adult amounts.
