Who qualifies
The status is for foreigners who will study in Peru in basic education, technical-productive education, higher education institutes or schools, university education (undergraduate or postgraduate), professional internships and other forms of study recognised by the Peruvian state. The course, internship or exchange must last at least one year. Applicants must be outside Peru when they apply and have no police, criminal or judicial records in their country of origin or in countries where they lived before arriving. Whether Migraciones grants temporary or resident status depends on the rules in force, the documents and its discretion.
Documents
Submit the Migraciones application form, a copy of your valid passport, a certificate from the competent authority showing no criminal, judicial or police records for the five years before arriving in Peru, and a sworn declaration of economic solvency covering the length of the status (signed by a parent or guardian for minors).
Proof of the study depends on the type: for schools, institutes and universities, an enrolment certificate from an institution recognised by the Peruvian state stating your name and a course length of at least one year; for work-based training, an accreditation letter from the host entity naming the sending university; for exchanges, an accreditation letter from the receiving university. Foreign documents must be legalised by the Peruvian consulate and the RREE, or apostilled, and translated into Spanish by a certified or sworn translator.
