Which relatives qualify

The status covers foreigners with a proven family tie, as defined in Article 38 of Legislative Decree 1350, to a Peruvian citizen or to a foreigner legally resident in Peru. The Migraciones page lists spouses, members of a de facto union registered with Sunarp, adult children up to 28 who are single and in technical or higher education, single adult children with a permanent disability, and first-degree ascendants of the Peruvian or resident, or of their foreign spouse or partner. A Peruvian sponsor needs a valid DNI; a foreign sponsor needs updated data and valid residence. Applicants must be abroad and have no criminal, judicial or police records.

Proving the relationship

Spouses of Peruvians provide the marriage record: valid for 90 calendar days if registered in Peru, or for 180 days if registered at a Peruvian consulate and legalised by the RREE. A couple who married abroad therefore first registers the marriage at the Peruvian consulate. Spouses of foreign residents provide the Reniec marriage record (90 days) or, for a marriage abroad, a record legalised by the Peruvian consulate and the RREE or apostilled (six months).

Partners provide a sworn declaration that the de facto union is registered with Sunarp, giving the registry entry. Children aged 18 to 28 provide a legalised or apostilled birth certificate, a sworn declaration of being single and proof of enrolment; adult children with a disability add the official disability certificate; parents provide the birth certificate of their Peruvian or resident child. Everyone adds the form, fee receipt, passport copy and a five-year criminal record certificate.
