Who can get a student visa
ROP grants the Student Visa at the request and under the responsibility of a sponsor that holds a licence to run an educational or training institution. The applicant must be enrolled to study at an educational institution in Oman, such as an approved institute, college or university.
A separate Training Visa exists for international trainees; it additionally needs a letter from the Ministry of Higher Education.
Documents
The institution uploads a letter explaining the type of study and its duration, along with the student's photo and passport copy. Students of certain nationalities need a medical fitness certificate endorsed by the Omani Ministry of Health.
Trainees add the letter from the Ministry of Higher Education.

Fees and length
ROP lists several subtypes: a Student Visa for three months to two years at OMR 30, a one-year Student Visa at OMR 20 and a two-year option at OMR 20; the Training Visa costs OMR 30. Residence can be renewed for a period similar to the original visa.
Late renewal or failure to register the residence permit is fined OMR 20 per month, so track the expiry date against your course calendar.
After arrival
Like every resident, a student must apply in person for a residence card within 30 days of entry; the card costs OMR 6 for one year or OMR 11 for two years.
The visa allows multiple entries once residency is granted. ROP cancels a residence visa if the holder remains outside Oman for more than six months, which matters for long summer breaks spent abroad.
