Which business visa fits
The Express visa is meant for business people whose work requires a short trip to Oman, and for holders of rare, high-level professions; ROP also lists convention participants. It is filed by a local sponsor, allows one entry and a stay of up to three weeks, and the official description allows a one-week extension.
People who travel to Oman repeatedly can be sponsored for the multiple-entry visit visa, which ROP describes as a visa for professionals and business people in certain occupations. It is valid for six months to one year and allows stays of four weeks each time. A separate Festivals visa covers participation in festivals or exhibitions approved by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and government bodies use the Official Visit Visa for their own guests.
Documents the sponsor provides
For the Express visa, the sponsor uploads a typed and stamped letter explaining the purpose of the visit, along with the visitor's photo and passport copy. Certain professions, such as medical, media and religious roles, need the approval of the competent authority.
The multiple-entry visa requires proof that the applicant is a business person. For the Festivals visa, a letter from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry confirming the applicant's link to the exhibition is needed.

The Express visa must be used within one month of issue. The multiple-entry visa must be used within six months and cannot be extended; each stay is limited to four weeks. The Festivals visa allows one month and one extension of one month. Overstaying costs OMR 10 per day.
What a business visa does not allow
Business visas cover meetings, negotiations, conferences and exhibitions. Actual employment for an Omani company requires a Ministry of Labour work permit and an employment visa; temporary assignments use ROP's Short Work Visa, which is also filed by a licensed sponsor.
Applicants must be outside Oman when the visa is requested and must not hold another current Omani visa.
