Jordan e-visa: who can apply, fees and the online process
Electronic visa (instant e-visa of the Ministry of Interior)
In short
Jordan's Ministry of Interior sells an instant electronic entry visa to nationals who do not need prior approval, and to certain other nationals who hold a Schengen or US visa or a residence permit in a listed country. Fees run from JOD 40 for a three-month single-entry visa to JOD 350 for a five-year multiple-entry visa, and the visa is issued as soon as it is paid.

Who can buy the e-visa
The e-visa is meant for foreigners who do not need prior approval to enter Jordan, that is, nationals not on the MOI restricted list. The ministry also opens it to two further groups listed on the portal: holders of certain Arab nationalities and certain other foreign nationalities, on condition that they hold a residence permit of at least six months in one of the listed countries, or a Schengen or US visa valid for at least six months, plus a return ticket if they will leave by air.
Restricted nationals who do not meet these conditions cannot use the e-visa and need a prior-approval visit visa filed by a sponsor in Jordan.
Fees by validity and number of entries
The MOI fee table for the electronic visa is: three months, single entry, JOD 40; three months, two entries, JOD 60; six months, multiple entries, JOD 120; one year, multiple entries, JOD 200; five years, multiple entries, JOD 350. US nationals have a separate five-year multiple-entry visa at JOD 110. No service allowance is added.
You can pay through the national eFAWATEERcom bill-payment system, by direct payment at local banks, or by Mastercard, Visa or American Express. A Jordan Pass bought before arrival waives only the single-entry tourist visa fee, and only if you stay at least two nights; it does not cover multiple-entry visas.
How the online application works
Applications are made on the MOI e-services site or in the ministry's mobile app; the portal also supports login through the national Sanad app. You register an account, choose the electronic visa, enter passport details and pay. According to the ministry the visa is issued immediately on payment and you print it before travelling; its status can be checked later on the enquiry screen of the e-services home page.
For account or payment problems the ministry lists the national contact centre (+962 6 500 8080), a WhatsApp line (+962 79 100 0838) and the e-mail address dobr-opr@moi.gov.jo.
- Confirm that your nationality does not need prior approval, or that you meet the residence or Schengen/US visa condition.
- Open eservices.moi.gov.jo or the MOI app and create an account.
- Select the electronic visa and the validity and number of entries you need.
- Enter your passport data and pay the fee.
- Print the visa issued after payment and carry it with your passport.
- At the border, check that the three-month temporary residence is recorded in your passport.
Using the e-visa
The visa can be used within its stated validity. On entry the border officer records three months of temporary residence, a rule in force since January 2026, and you can later request an extension to a total of six months from entry. Stays of more than two weeks must be registered at a security centre, with a JOD 200 fine for failing to do so.
The King Hussein Bridge does not issue visas on the spot, so travellers using that crossing should hold the e-visa or another visa before arriving.

Frequently asked questions
How fast is the Jordan e-visa issued?
The Ministry of Interior describes it as instant: the visa is issued once the fee is paid and can be printed straight away.
Is there an extra service charge?
No. The MOI page for the electronic visa states that no service allowance is charged; you pay only the visa fee for the option you choose.
Do I have to use the e-visa?
No, if your nationality is not on the Ministry of Interior's restricted list: you can buy the e-visa online without prior approval or obtain a visa on arrival instead. The e-visa saves the queue at the border and offers multiple-entry and longer options that are bought online.
Can a restricted national use the e-visa?
Only if they belong to the listed nationalities and hold a residence of at least six months in a listed country or a Schengen or US visa valid six months. Otherwise a sponsor in Jordan must apply for a prior-approval visit visa.
