Eligible nationalities
The MFA groups visa-on-arrival nationals into four sub-categories. C1: Australia, all passport types, single or multiple entry, 30 days, BND 20 or BND 30. C2: Saudi Arabia, single entry, 14 days, BND 20. C3: Qatar, single or multiple entry, 14 days, BND 20. C4: Bahrain, single or multiple entry, 14 days, BND 20 or BND 30. All other nationalities either enter visa-free (Category D) or need a visa before travelling (Categories A and B).
Limits of the visa on arrival
The visa on arrival is for short visits. The MFA notes that a separate visa application is required for stays beyond the permitted period and for business and professional visits, which need a Business Visit Visa or Professional Visit Visa applied for by a company in Brunei.
Procedure on arrival
Fill in the visa form and the arrival card, which are available on all incoming flights to Brunei, and present them with your passport and the fee at the immigration checkpoint. JIPK also offers an online e-Arrival Card on the Brunei INRS portal (imm.gov.bn), which can be created and updated before travel.
- Confirm on the MFA visa information page that your nationality is in Category C.
- Collect the visa form and arrival card on your flight, or create an e-Arrival Card online.
- Present the forms, passport and fee at immigration on arrival.
- Leave before the 14 or 30 days expire, or apply for a visa for a longer stay.
If you are not in Category C
Category D nationals do not need a visa on arrival: they enter visa-free for social visits of 90, 30 or 14 days depending on their group. Category A and B nationals must obtain a visa before travelling. Check the MFA category list before each trip, because categories are set per nationality and passport type.
