Who qualifies
The FBN category covers the foreign spouse and children of a Bangladeshi citizen, and foreign citizens of Bangladeshi descent with their spouses and children, who come to stay with family and travel in Bangladesh. The visa is issued for two years with multiple entries and can be extended up to three years; FBN visas may be issued for the maximum duration of the category.
Foreign spouses, children and people of Bangladeshi origin may also obtain a visa on arrival and convert it into an FBN visa or an NVR inside the country, without the USD 200 conversion fee that applies only to employment.
Documents for the FBN visa
The first FBN visa requires the completed form, the passport with a copy of the information page, an affidavit declaring the relationship with the Bangladeshi citizen or proof of the applicant's Bangladeshi origin up to the third generation, and a marriage registration or birth certificate where necessary. Extensions add the passport pages with visa and arrival stamp and, if needed, a police report.
Missions add their own checklist, typically the printed MRV form, photos to their specification, proof of fee payment, the original passport with a copy and, if you apply outside your country of nationality, your residence permit there.

No Visa Required (NVR) endorsement
Foreign spouses and children of Bangladeshi citizens can obtain an NVR in their foreign passport. They submit the Bangladeshi spouse's or parent's passport, national ID card, online birth registration or citizenship certificate, an affidavit of relationship from that person, the marriage certificate (Nikahnama) and, for children, the birth certificate. Police verification is required for spouses and for children over 15.
The NVR is machine-readable, valid for as long as the passport is valid and costs USD 80 or the equivalent. If the holder gets a new passport, the NVR is reissued in it for a fee; a foreign spouse of a person of Bangladeshi origin must add an affidavit from the spouse.
Conditions and overstay
Employment is prohibited on the FBN visa and the condition is printed on it. Foreign spouses and children of Bangladeshi citizens and foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin may have overstay fines waived under the Visa Policy 2026.
Extension applications are made to the Department of Immigration and Passports at least 15 days before the visa expires.
