Argentina work visa and migrant worker residence
Temporary residence as a migrant worker and work visa (trabajador migrante)
In short
Foreigners hired by an Argentine employer obtain a one-year renewable temporary residence as a migrant worker. The employer must be registered with the DNM's RENURE and with the tax agency ARCA, and you need a pre-contract with certified signatures. You can apply in RaDEX from inside Argentina or start with a work visa at the consulate for your place of residence, which costs USD 250 plus a USD 600 migration fee for non-MERCOSUR nationals.

Signatures must be certified by a notary or before a DNM officer. The employer must show registration with ARCA, registration in RENURE, and the early-registration (alta temprana) record within 30 calendar days of the application.
Personal documents
You need a valid passport, the Argentine criminal record certificate (included in RaDEX), criminal record certificates from every country where you lived more than a year in the last three years (from age 16), proof of address and regular entry. Foreign documents must be apostilled and translated by a sworn public translator in Argentina.

- Sign the pre-contract and certify the signatures with a notary or the DNM.
- Obtain an apostilled criminal record certificate from your country of residence.
- Apply in RaDEX from Argentina, or for the work visa at the consulate for your residence.
- Pay the fees and attend the appointment or interview.
- Ensure the employer files the alta temprana within 30 days and renew yearly.
Renewal and permanent residence
The residence lasts one year and can be renewed; renewal requests must be filed within the 60 days before expiry. Non-MERCOSUR nationals who have held temporary residence for three years can apply for permanent residence by arraigo if they meet the means and presence requirements.
Employers registered in RENURE can request urgent processing of a temporary or permanent residence for 100 UMSM; any applicant can book a preferential appointment for 50 UMSM.
Applying at a mission abroad
The work visa is processed only by the Argentine mission responsible for your place of residence, and you sign the employment contract in front of the consul. Check the mission's jurisdiction, appointment system and accepted payment methods first; consular fees are charged in USD or EUR.
