Who qualifies
The residence covers regular students in public or private institutions recognised by the official education system, plus interns and scholarship holders under agreements between institutions, regulated by article 23 j) of Law 25.871 and DNM Disposition 2.802/2023. The school must be registered with the DNM and issues an electronic registration certificate (Constancia de Inscripción Electrónica) that states the type of studies.
Besides full-degree students, the DNM covers interns (pasantes) under an international agreement between recognised institutions or companies, and scholarship holders (becarios) in scientific or research programmes; both present the electronic enrolment certificate plus the agreement or acceptance letter. When an internship or scholarship lasts more than 180 days, the DNM may instead grant temporary residence under article 23 n), with the foreign ministry involved in each case. Letters from Argentine sponsors need a signature certified by the Ministry of Education, a migration officer or a notary.
Consular study visa requirements
At the consulate you present the FSV form, a copy of the study programme, the electronic pre-registration of your data made by the school with the DNM, the school's RENURE number, proof of means for your stay and studies, proof of address in the consulate's district, parental authorisation and a guardian's name for minors, and, from age 16, an apostilled criminal record certificate from every country where you lived more than a year in the last three years, plus a sworn statement signed before the consul. An interview is part of the process.
