Lithuania: visa decisions in India
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 697 | 356 | 339 | 48.8% | 47.2% |
| 2024 | 681 | 471 | 213 | 31.1% | 41.8% |
| 2025 | 944 | 607 | 337 | 35.7% | 25.0% |
In 2025, Lithuania’s embassy and consulates in India (New Delhi) received 944 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 607. The refusal rate was 35.7%. The refusal rate rose by 4.6 points from 31.1% in 2024. Applications rose by 39% compared with 2024 (681).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 15.8% of the applications lodged in India that year, from 7.1% at the consulates of Denmark to 46.5% at those of Slovenia. Lithuania’s consulates worldwide refused 14.4%. Lithuania was the 28th most applied-for Schengen state in India.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in India, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
