Venezuela student visa (TR-E)

Student transeúnte visa (Visa de Transeúnte Estudiantil, TR-E)

In short

The student transeúnte visa (TR-E) is granted to non-migrants who want to enter Venezuela for higher, technical or university studies, for specialisation, or for internships in their field. Venezuela's foreign service asks for a passport valid for six months, an enrolment certificate and an application letter, and the visa is for nationals of countries without visa suppression. Once in Venezuela, students renew it online through SAIME with an updated certificate of studies.

Renewal and extension at SAIME

Inside Venezuela, the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Foreigners (SAIME) handles renewals. Every renewal starts by creating a user and password on the SAIME website and uploading a photo of a passport valid for at least six months, the entry and exit stamps and the latest visas, plus the document specific to the category. For students (TR-E) the specific document is an updated certificate of studies.

SAIME also lists an extension for students (prórroga transeúnte estudio de permanencia, TR-E-P). On top of the common documents it asks for a letter explaining the reasons, proof of lawful means of support for the student and their family group, and apostilled criminal records.

Where to apply
