Eligible countries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs approves the list of countries whose citizens can obtain an electronic entry visa; it is published as Appendix 1 to the visa regulations and includes, among others, the United States, Vietnam, the Philippines, Oman, Tunisia and Nepal. If necessary, the Ministry can restrict e-visas for citizens of certain countries for a period. Visa-free nationals do not need an e-visa for stays within their visa-free period.

E-visa fees

The consular fee is USD 20 for a single-entry e-visa, USD 35 for a double-entry e-visa valid for up to 30 days, USD 50 for a multiple-entry e-visa valid for up to 30 days and from USD 20 per person for a group e-visa of up to 30 days. Compared with a traditional single-entry visa for up to 30 days, which costs USD 60, the e-visa is the cheaper route for short trips.

Applying online

Applications are made on the official portal e-visa.gov.uz. Organisations inviting foreigners also use the Ministry's electronic application form from evisa.mfa.uz as part of the visa confirmation file. Travellers should use only these official addresses.

  1. Check that your country is on the e-visa list and not already visa-free.
  2. Open e-visa.gov.uz and choose single, double or multiple entry.
  3. Fill in the form and upload the photo and passport data.
  4. Pay USD 20, 35 or 50 depending on the type.
  5. Receive the e-visa and print it.
  6. Enter Uzbekistan within its validity and leave before it ends.

When an e-visa is not enough

E-visas cover short stays. Work, study, long business stays, investment and visits to relatives for longer periods require one of the non-electronic categories, such as the work visa, the student visa, the business visa of up to one year or the visitor visa of up to one year, issued at a mission on the basis of the Ministry's confirmation.

Transit alternatives

Travellers who only pass through Uzbekistan can use a transit visa of up to three days, which costs USD 40, or USD 50 for double transit; at a mission it requires the visa of the destination country and proof of the departure date, and is processed in three days. Citizens of Annex 2 countries may stay up to five days visa-free when transiting Uzbek international airports with an Uzbekistan Airways ticket to a third country.
