Who needs it
Only travellers whose nationality requires a visa for Morocco and who will leave the airport or port area to cross the country. Nationals on the exemption list, among them EU, UK and US citizens, enter for transit like any other visitor. Aircraft and ship crews follow separate rules: crew members who need a visa receive a transit visa from the national police on presentation of a crew member certificate or seaman's book.
For exempt nationals, a stopover in Casablanca or another Moroccan airport that includes a night in the city only requires the passport. Visitors staying up to 90 days on a regular travel document do not need a residence card under Article 9 of Law No. 02-03.
Conditions
The visa covers one or two transits, each limited to 72 hours. You must prove that you can enter the country of final destination (a visa or residence permit for it, where required) and hold a confirmed onward ticket. The ministry notes that a visa type cannot be changed once you are in Morocco, so a transit visa cannot later become a tourist stay.
On the Accès Maroc form you name the border post where you will enter or transit and state whether you hold an authorisation to enter the country of final destination. The 72-hour limit is strict: staying in Morocco beyond the authorised period without force majeure is an offence under Article 42 of Law No. 02-03, punishable by a fine of MAD 2,000 to 20,000 and/or one to six months' imprisonment.
Fee
