Iran medical treatment visa: approval letter and application
Medical treatment visa (T)
In short
Iran's T visa is for foreigners who travel for medical treatment and already hold an approval letter from one of the medical centres authorized for foreign patients. The letter is the key document; with it you file the online application on the MFA e-visa portal and collect the visa at a mission.

Who the T visa is for
The MFA defines the medical visa as the visa for foreigners who want to travel to Iran for medical purposes and have already received an approval letter from an authorized medical centre. It names patients with physical illnesses as the applicant group. The visa is not meant for general tourism combined with check-ups: what matters is the approval issued by the treating centre.
Travellers from countries with a visa waiver can often come for short treatments without a visa, within the limits of their waiver; longer stays need the T visa.
Approval letter from an authorized centre
Before applying, contact the Iranian hospital or clinic, send your medical records and obtain its approval letter. The MFA lists only two requirements – this letter and the visa application – but the online form also needs a photo and passport scan meeting the portal standard and a passport valid for at least six months beyond the travel date.
