Czech Republic digital nomad visa
Digital Nomad Program (long-term visa for remote IT and marketing professionals)
In short
Czechia’s digital nomad route is a government programme, not a separate visa type: highly qualified IT and marketing professionals from 13 listed countries get a guaranteed embassy submission and processing within 45 days for a long-term visa. Citizens of other countries cannot be principal applicants, although family members of an eligible nomad may be included whatever their nationality.

Eligible nationalities
The programme is limited to citizens of Australia, Brazil, India, Israel, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and Taiwan. Applicants must not hold, or have held within the previous year, a Czech long-term visa or long-term residence permit. Citizens of other countries are not eligible as principal applicants.
Two types of digital nomad
An employee of a foreign employer works remotely for a company or public body abroad with at least 50 employees worldwide, keeps that employment and applies for a long-term visa for other purposes. A freelancer holds, or will hold, a Czech trade licence for IT or marketing services and applies for a long-term visa for business. IT specialists need a STEM degree or three years of IT experience; marketing specialists need at least three years of higher education in marketing or a related field.
Income requirement
Both types must show income of at least 1.5 times the average gross annual wage announced by the Ministry of Labour, which for 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2027 is CZK 590,580. Employees prove it with the employment contract; freelancers with a contract promise or client affidavit whose value, spread over the months of performance, reaches that level.
Procedure
The nomad sends the inclusion request with the application form and attachments to digitalnomad@mpo.gov.cz. After inclusion, the visa application is lodged at the Czech embassy with all documents required by law, such as criminal record, accommodation and funds, as originals or notarised copies not older than 180 days. There is no legal entitlement to inclusion.
- Confirm that you hold the citizenship of one of the 13 listed countries.
- Send the inclusion request and attachments to digitalnomad@mpo.gov.cz.
- After inclusion, book the embassy appointment and lodge the long-term visa application with all legal documents.
- Expect a decision within 45 days; then collect the visa and register your address in Czechia.
Family members of other nationalities
A spouse, registered partner or child who is not a citizen of a listed country can be included if they apply together with the nomad at an embassy where they are entitled to apply, such as the Czech mission in their country of citizenship or long-term residence. They apply for a long-term visa for family purposes.

Is the digital nomad visa a separate visa category?
No. The programme speeds up existing routes: a long-term visa for other purposes for employees and a long-term visa for business for freelancers.
Can my spouse come with me if they are not from a listed country?
Yes, if your spouse applies together with you at an embassy where they are entitled to apply, for a long-term visa for family purposes.
