How visas for Barbados work
Barbados' visa policy is published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and applied by the Immigration Department, part of the Prime Minister's Office. The Ministry's visa list shows, country by country, whether a visa is needed and how long a visitor may stay without one, most often 90 days or six months. Nationals who need a visa apply online before booking travel. Visitors complete an online Immigration and Customs form within 72 hours of arrival and carry a return ticket, their address and evidence of support; the immigration officer at the port of entry decides on admission.
Remote workers earning at least US$50,000 a year can apply online for the 12-month Barbados Welcome Stamp, at US$2,000 for an individual or US$3,000 for a family. Students apply for a student visa before entering, starting with a provisional visa of up to four months, for BDS$300. Long-term residents apply to the Immigration Department for immigrant status or permanent residence with certified forms, medical and police certificates.
This guide covers visitor entry, the Welcome Stamp, student visas and immigrant status. Work permits, which use forms C-1 to C-3, and asylum are not described in detail because the Immigration Department's pages reviewed do not set out their requirements.
