Romania: visa decisions in Singapore
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 (part of the year) | 81 | 73 | 3 | 3.9% | 31.5% |
| 2025 | 57 | 49 | 8 | 14.0% | 14.3% |
In 2025, Romania’s embassy and consulates in Singapore (Singapore) received 57 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 49. The refusal rate was 14.0%. The refusal rate rose by 10.1 points from 3.9% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications fell by 30% compared with 2024 (81).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.1% of the applications lodged in Singapore that year, from 0.4% at the consulates of Belgium to 10.3% at those of the Netherlands. Romania’s consulates worldwide refused 11.5%. Romania was the 14th most applied-for Schengen state in Singapore.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. Romania only began issuing Schengen visas on 31 March 2024, so its 2024 figures cover part of the year. The figures cover applications lodged in Singapore, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
