Portugal: visa decisions in Serbia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 105 | 100 | 5 | 4.8% | 40.0% |
| 2024 | 175 | 165 | 1 | 0.6% | 0.0% |
| 2025 | 235 | 227 | 8 | 3.4% | 15.4% |
In 2025, Portugal’s embassy and consulates in Serbia (Belgrade) received 235 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 227. The refusal rate was 3.4%. The refusal rate rose by 2.8 points from 0.6% in 2024. Applications rose by 34% compared with 2024 (175).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.7% of the applications lodged in Serbia that year, from 1.1% at the consulates of Greece to 16.9% at those of Croatia. Portugal’s consulates worldwide refused 23.3%. Portugal was the 15th most applied-for Schengen state in Serbia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Serbia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
