France: visa decisions in Serbia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 1,374 | 1,241 | 107 | 7.9% | 6.4% |
| 2024 | 1,574 | 1,459 | 114 | 7.2% | 8.7% |
| 2025 | 1,091 | 1,041 | 66 | 5.9% | 8.8% |
In 2025, France’s embassy and consulates in Serbia (Belgrade) received 1,091 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 1,041. The refusal rate was 5.9%. That is barely different from 2024 (7.2%). Applications fell by 31% compared with 2024 (1,574).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.7% of the applications lodged in Serbia that year, from 1.1% at the consulates of Greece to 16.9% at those of Croatia. France’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. France was the 9th most applied-for Schengen state in Serbia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Serbia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
