Croatia: visa decisions in Australia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 121 | 112 | 6 | 4.6% | 67.9% |
| 2024 | 137 | 133 | 4 | 2.9% | 54.9% |
| 2025 | 170 | 126 | 4 | 2.5% | 50.0% |
In 2025, Croatia’s embassy and consulates in Australia (Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Perth) received 170 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 126. 2.5% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 2.9%. Applications rose by 24% compared with 2024 (137).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 3.0% of the applications lodged in Australia that year, from 0.6% at the consulates of Switzerland to 8.8% at those of the Netherlands. Croatia’s consulates worldwide refused 18.5%. Croatia was the 12th most applied-for Schengen state in Australia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Australia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
