How visas for Trinidad and Tobago work
Trinidad and Tobago's Immigration Division, part of the Ministry of Homeland Security, handles visas, extensions of stay and student permits, while the Ministry's Work Permit Secretariat issues work permits. The Division publishes a list of countries whose citizens do not need an entry visa, including many Commonwealth and Caribbean countries; visitors of other nationalities apply online for an eVisa before travelling, and a multiple-entry eVisa costs TTD 800.
Foreign students need a student permit for the whole of their studies, applied for online (TTD 400 for non-CARICOM nationals), unless they are full-time students at the University of the West Indies St Augustine Campus. Workers need a work permit, filed online by the employer through TTBizLink, unless they work for a single period of 30 days or less in a year. Visitors can request extensions of stay by appointment in Port of Spain, San Fernando or Tobago.
This guide covers the eVisa, student permits and work permits. Residence, family and asylum procedures are not covered, because the Immigration Division's pages reviewed do not describe them.
