Purpose
The professional visa allows the holder to practise certain professions or activities, such as journalism, reporting or trade, or to respond to requests from partners established in Togo to carry out projects or time-limited professional activities like building public works or expert assignments. Taking up a long-term job is handled by the immigration visa instead.
Duration and price
The visa is granted for a maximum of 90 days. It may, however, be granted for one year to a foreign promoter of a company under Togolese law, or to a foreign professional who does not live in Togo but conducts important activities there that require regular follow-up. Prices: XOF 25,000 (1–15 days, single), 35,000 (1–15 days, multiple), 45,000 (16–30 days), 65,000 (31–90 days) and 100,000 (91–365 days).

At the border and while in Togo
Every traveller, whether arriving by air, land or sea, registers on Togo Voyage and completes the immigration formalities before reaching the border. Present the passport used for the application, the immigration slip with its QR code and the visa bar code, and the yellow fever card where required. To extend a visa in Togo, go to the DGDN with your travel document and the slip showing your visa references; a late extension can be fined XOF 250,000.
Limits of the visa
Law No. 2022-005 states that a visa does not give the right to paid employment. A foreigner who carries out a lucrative activity without an entry authorisation or a residence card can be fined XOF 500,000, and anyone who employs a foreigner staying illegally faces a fine of XOF 1,000,000. People who settle in Togo to work use the immigration visa for employment and then a residence card.
