Saudi Arabia tourist eVisa: eligibility, fees and online application

Tourist eVisa (visit visa for tourism, electronic)

The multiple-entry version is valid for one year and allows stays of up to 90 days; tourism, events, family visits and Umrah outside the Hajj season are permitted, but work and Hajj are not.

Who can use the Saudi eVisa

The eVisa is open to nationals of the countries on the official eligibility list published by the Ministry of Tourism; Türkiye, the EU and Schengen states, the UK, the US, Japan, Malaysia and several Central Asian states are on it. KSA Visa also lets the following apply electronically regardless of nationality: holders of a US, UK or Schengen visit visa, permanent residents of the US, the EU or the UK, and residents of a Gulf Cooperation Council country.

Your passport must have at least six months of validity left when you enter, and you must travel on the same passport you used for the application. Applicants must be 18 or older unless a legal guardian applies with them.

What you need before you start

The online form asks for passport details, a recent headshot photo, your address in Saudi Arabia and an email address. Health insurance from an insurer approved in Saudi Arabia is mandatory and is bought inside the application. You should be able to cover your accommodation, food and transport for the whole stay.

Fees and refunds

KSA Visa lists four items for a visit visa for tourism: the USD 80 visa fee, a USD 10.50 visa digital-service fee, a USD 10.50 insurance digital-service fee and the insurance premium, which depends on the provider you pick. Pay by card; the total is shown before you confirm.

The two digital-service fees are non-refundable. KSA Visa marks the visa fee itself as refundable, while the older eVisa terms said no refund after refusal, so read the refund terms on the payment page before paying.

Processing, validity and length of stay

KSA Visa states a processing time of one minute to three business days; the result comes by email and can be checked with the tracker. A multiple-entry visa is valid for one year from issue and a single-entry visa for 90 days; either allows up to 90 days in the Kingdom. A visa that expires unused cannot be revived – you apply and pay again.

On arrival and during your stay

Biometrics are taken at the border, and holding an eVisa does not guarantee entry. You may travel freely between cities. Muslim visitors may enter Makkah and Madinah and perform Umrah after booking a permit on Nusuk, except during the Hajj season, when visit-visa holders are barred from Makkah. Non-Muslims may not enter the Holy Mosque in Makkah or the Prophet's Mosque precincts in Madinah.

Refusals and look-alike websites

If the eVisa is refused you are notified by email and may reapply at any time, or apply through a Saudi embassy instead. MOFA warns against unauthorised individuals and companies; the official channels end in .sa (ksavisa.sa, visa.mofa.gov.sa) plus the Ministry of Tourism's visa.visitsaudi.com. Other sites charging extra are intermediaries.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Check that your nationality (or your US, UK or Schengen visa or residence) qualifies for the eVisa on KSA Visa.
  2. Open the tourism visit visa on KSA Visa, create an account and fill in the form exactly as in your passport.
  3. Upload your photo, choose single or multiple entry and select a health insurance provider.
  4. Review the total (visa fee, service fees and insurance) and pay by card.
  5. Wait for the email with the decision; follow progress with the application number on the tracker.
  6. Print or save the eVisa and travel on the same passport; give biometrics at the border.
