Saudi Arabia tourist visa: which route applies to you and what it allows
Visit visa for tourism (eVisa, visa on arrival or through a Saudi mission)
In short
Saudi Arabia issues one tourism visit visa through three routes: online eVisa for eligible nationals and certain visa or residence holders, visa on arrival for holders of a used US, UK or Schengen visa and US, UK or EU permanent residents, and an application via KSA Visa followed by a visa centre or Saudi embassy for everyone else. All routes allow up to 90 days per stay and Umrah outside the Hajj season.

Which route applies to you
eVisa: citizens of the listed countries, plus holders of US, UK or Schengen visit visas, permanent residents of the US, EU or UK, and residents of GCC states. Visa on arrival: KSA Visa limits it to holders of US, UK or Schengen visit visas and to US, EU or UK permanent residents; airlines may ask to see that the visa has already been used.
Everyone else fills in the application on KSA Visa and then completes it at a visa service centre, where one exists, or directly at the Saudi embassy in their country of residence. Package visas sold together with approved tour packages are a further option advertised on KSA Visa.
Fees
The same fee structure applies to all routes on KSA Visa: USD 80 visa fee, USD 10.50 visa digital-service fee, USD 10.50 insurance digital-service fee and the chosen insurer's premium. Embassies and service centres may charge their own handling fees, which they publish locally.
Applying through a Saudi mission
Fill in the visit visa form on KSA Visa, note the application number and then follow the instructions of the visa centre or the embassy, which may ask you to submit your passport, give fingerprints and show your return ticket, hotel booking and proof of income. Nationals of eVisa-eligible countries normally do not need this route.
- Decide your route: eVisa if your nationality or visa/residence qualifies, otherwise the mission route.
- Complete the tourism visit visa application on KSA Visa and buy the health insurance.
- Pay the visa and service fees online.
- If directed to a visa centre or embassy, book an appointment and bring your passport and supporting documents.
- Receive the decision by email and track it with your application number.
- Book a Nusuk permit before any Umrah or visit to the Rawdah in Madinah.

Validity, stay and the Hajj season
Single entry: valid 90 days, stay up to 90 days. Multiple entry: valid one year, stays of up to 90 days. During the Hajj season entry is only through designated ports, and in 2026 the Interior Ministry fined visit-visa holders up to SAR 20,000 for entering or staying in Makkah and the holy sites between 1 Dhu al-Qadah and 14 Dhu al-Hijjah.
Plan any Makkah visit outside that window; the dates move about eleven days earlier each Gregorian year.
What the visa allows
Tourism, attending events, visiting family or friends and moving freely between cities. Muslim visitors may perform Umrah and enter Makkah and Madinah outside the Hajj season after reserving a permit on Nusuk. The visa never allows Hajj and does not allow work or study.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a Saudi visa on arrival?
KSA Visa reserves visa on arrival for holders of US, UK or Schengen visit visas and for US, UK or EU permanent residents. Other travellers whose nationality is on the eVisa list should get the eVisa online before flying, which is quick and uses the same fee table.
Can I visit Makkah and Madinah on a tourist visa?
Muslim visitors can, outside the Hajj season, after booking permits on Nusuk. Non-Muslims may not enter the Holy Mosque in Makkah or the Prophet's Mosque precincts.
Can a tourist visa be extended?
The eVisa cannot be extended; plan your trip within the 90-day stay limit and leave before it ends.
Do I need a hotel booking or return ticket for the eVisa?
The online eVisa asks for your address in Saudi Arabia but not for tickets; embassies processing visas for non-eligible nationals usually ask for a return ticket and hotel booking.
