Length of stay

The Easy Visitor Permit is single entry and valid for 30 or 60 days from the date of arrival, for holidays, sightseeing, social or recreational activities or visiting relatives and friends. The 60-day permit can be extended inside PNG for USD 150; the 30-day permit cannot.

Conditions during the stay

A visitor admitted on arrival must not take any employment, paid or unpaid, and must keep a valid permit and passport at all times: holders of expired or cancelled permits are prohibited immigrants and may be deported. Entry is allowed only through approved ports such as Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby and the Wutung land border post near Vanimo. The Minister for Immigration and Border Security may cancel an entry permit under section 6 of the Migration Act 1978, for example if it was issued in error, the holder commits a criminal offence (even without a conviction), associates with suspected criminals, has a disease dangerous to the community, breaches its conditions such as by working unlawfully, runs illegal business, lacks the means of support or is a security risk. Notice goes to the last known address with a deadline to leave; a person who does not leave may be detained and removed.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Check that your nationality and passport type are on ICA's list.
  2. Submit the Digital Arrival Card up to 72 hours before arrival.
  3. Present passport and return ticket on arrival, or apply online in advance for an Easy Visitor Permit.
  4. Leave or extend before the 30 or 60 days end.
