Business visa (short-term single entry or multiple entry)
In short
Short business trips to PNG for meetings, board meetings, conferences, negotiations or exploratory visits need a business visa. The short-term single entry visa allows one stay of up to 30 days for USD 190 and cannot be extended; the short-term multiple entry visa covers repeated visits within 12 months for USD 350. Permitted business activities
ICA lists activities such as official trade missions recognised by the government, buying or selling goods and services, supporting a major government-approved infrastructure project, negotiating the set-up, expansion or wind-up of a business, and dealing with authorised representatives of an overseas company. You must show you are a genuine business person who will leave at the end of the stay. APEC Business Travel Card holders can travel under that scheme.
The permit must be used within six months of issue or it becomes invalid and a new application is needed. ICA requires all applicants to be of good health and character; criminal convictions or pending prosecutions must be disclosed, and failure to do so can lead to refusal or cancellation. APEC Business Travel Card holders need pre-approval from their home economy through the ABTC system and a passport valid for six months that meets ICAO standards.
Documents
Both classes require a letter from the PNG-based sponsor, a copy of the passport bio page, the prescribed migration fee and evidence of a return or onward ticket.

Refusal and cancellation
Giving false or misleading information on the application is a criminal offence, and the Migration Act 1978 sets penalties for it. Fees are not refunded if a visa is refused. The Minister for Immigration and Border Security may cancel an entry permit under section 6 of the Migration Act 1978, for example if it was issued in error, the holder commits a criminal offence (even without a conviction), associates with suspected criminals, has a disease dangerous to the community, breaches its conditions such as by working unlawfully, runs illegal business, lacks the means of support or is a security risk. Notice goes to the last known address with a deadline to leave; a person who does not leave may be detained and removed.
