Lodging the application

Long-stay visas are not available on arrival. Applications go to the Division of Immigration on the second floor of the Ministry of Justice building in downtown Koror (8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday) or by email to immigration@bcbp.pw. Since January 2017 every listed document must be attached, incomplete files are not accepted, and a complete application needs about ten working days; the page gives 5 to 10 working days in general. Applicants should check that the receiving officer fills in the received box on the first page of the form.

  1. Obtain the Foreign Investment Approval Certificate from the Foreign Investment Board.
  2. Complete the investor entry application and gather the documents.
  3. Lodge the application with the 50 dollar fee at the Division of Immigration or by email.
  4. Renew before expiry, keeping within the certificate's term.

Renewal

Lodge renewals at the Division of Immigration at least seven days before the current visa expires.

Spouse and children

The spouse and children under 21 of an investor apply for a dependent visa, specifying the investor dependency on the visa form. It lasts up to five years and ends no later than the investor's visa. The dependent visa criteria include legal marriage, birth certificates and a fixed annual salary of at least 15,000 US dollars, which may combine both spouses, and the file includes a copy of the investor's visa, a notarised affidavit of support, a notarised joint spouse affidavit and the marriage licence for new applicants.

Conditions

Investor visa holders may work or run business activities only in line with Palau's labor, foreign investment and tax laws. The visa lasts up to five years and never longer than the term of the certificate.

The Director may revoke a visa if the holder no longer meets the requirements of the class, under 13 PNC section 1006. Every arriving traveller, investors included, submits the Palau Entry Form within 72 hours before departure, and nationals of the 12 countries in Executive Order 499 need pre-clearance before boarding.
