Eligibility
The visa is for people who work remotely for companies or clients based outside Namibia: freelancers, self-employed professionals and remote employees. Applicants need a minimum monthly income of USD 2,000, valid international health and travel insurance and a valid passport. Accompanying spouses require an additional USD 1,000 a month and each child USD 500.
Documents
The applicant submits visa application form 3-1/0033, a medical certificate (form 3-1/0003), a radiological report (form 3-1/0004), a certified passport copy, proof of medical or comprehensive travel insurance, proof of income such as payslips or an employment contract, six months of bank statements, a motivation letter from the employer, copies of qualifications and an original, notarised or certified police clearance from the country of origin translated into English. Spouses and children complete their own forms and add marriage or full birth certificates. NIPDB submits a motivation letter directly to MHAISS with the file.

Process and payment
Applications are coordinated by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, which forwards them to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security. After formal approval, the applicant pays NAD 3,300 before arrival, or a local representative pays the ministry directly. Once payment is confirmed, MHAISS issues a loose entry visa, which serves as the document for entry.
The NIPDB motivation letter is sent directly by NIPDB to the ministry together with the forms and supporting documents, so the applicant does not submit it. Applicants already in Namibia attach a certified copy of their legal status there instead of, or in addition to, the passport copy.
- Check that your remote income meets the thresholds.
- Complete the forms and medical and radiological reports.
- Submit the file through NIPDB.
- Pay NAD 3,300 after approval.
- Travel with the entry visa issued by MHAISS.
Conditions
The visa grants a six-month stay, cannot be renewed and does not allow a change of conditions in Namibia. A new application is possible only 12 months after the previous visa expired. Work must remain for employers or clients outside Namibia.
