For minors, add a deed of commitment from the person or legal entity responsible for their stay, the authorisation of both parents and the birth certificate.
A statement of responsibility is also required: someone takes charge of your support during the stay, of your departure when the permit expires and of notifying the INM when the studies end, as the final paragraph of article 42 of the regulation of the Migration and Foreigners Law requires. If your parents are responsible, they must present their resident cards.
General documents
Each applicant files a request to the Executive Director of the INM with contact details for the foreigner and the legal representative, the legal stamps, the document giving the representative authority, a recent 6 x 5 cm photo with the name on the back, a legalised criminal record certificate from the country of origin and last residence, an original certificate from the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) for applicants over 18, a medical certificate no older than six months and an authenticated passport copy. Applying from Honduras
Visa-exempt nationals can enter Honduras as visitors and file the student permit through a lawyer at the INM. The INM explains that foreigners who have filed for a special stay permit must keep extending their stay at the INM, at the equivalent of USD 20 per month, until the resolution is issued and they are entered in the National Register of Foreigners. Keep the receipts of every extension, because the stay must remain regular throughout the procedure.
- Obtain the admission certificate from the Honduran institution.
- Arrange the responsibility statement and proof of means.
- File through a legal representative at the INM and pay USD 50 plus L.200.
- Register in the National Register of Foreigners after approval.
After approval
Once the resolution is issued, register in the National Register of Foreigners. The person responsible for you must notify the INM when your studies end, and you must leave Honduras or change category when the permit expires.
