Who needs a visitor visa
Guyana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes the list of countries whose nationals do not need a visa (updated 17 July 2025). It covers CARICOM nationals and countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Japan; for some countries, among them China and India, only diplomatic, official or service passports are exempt. Some entries also limit the visa-free stay, for example to 30 days for Singapore and 90 days for Ghana. Nationals not covered, and holders of ordinary passports where only official passports are listed, need a visitor visa.
Documents
The online visitor visa application asks for the passport bio-data page, a passport photo, a letter requesting a visa on arrival and the applicant's birth certificate as mandatory uploads, and may also include a certificate of character, the sponsor's ID, passport page and photo, a marriage certificate, children's and spouse's birth certificates, a medical report and a bank statement.
For a visa on arrival, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' advisory requires two photographs and the name and address of the inviter or sponsor, the name and address of the hotel for tourists, a letter of invitation presented on arrival, the sponsor's phone or email and intended place of stay, and evidence of finances covering expenses for 30 days.
