Student visa

In short

Students from countries whose citizens need a visa can obtain a student visa for Guyana. Before the student arrives, the registered or accredited institution provides the Ministry of Home Affairs with its contact details, the student's acceptance letter and the student's address in Guyana, and evidence of financial support is also provided. The student visa is issued on arrival for three years at US$140, with the same fee for each three-year renewal.

What the institution must send

Before the student arrives, the Ministry of Home Affairs must receive the name, address, telephone, fax and email of the registered or accredited institution; a copy of the acceptance letter, sent directly by the school; and the address and phone numbers of the student's place of stay, provided by the institution. Evidence of financial support is also provided to the Ministry.

Student visas are then issued on arrival, and the student and the school are notified. Applications that do not meet these criteria are rejected and the institution is informed.
