Who it is for

The platform lists five bases for a long-stay visa: salaried employment under a contract approved by the authorities; a liberal profession or an agricultural, industrial, commercial, artistic or other activity, where the competent authority's authorisation is required; family ties, for a spouse or a minor child; studies, for students enrolled at an institution; and internships.

Documents

You need a passport valid for at least six months with a scan of the data page, a scan of your previous visa where you are extending (prorogation), a valid return ticket and a yellow fever certificate. A repatriation guarantee is also required. Add the document matching your purpose: the approved employment contract, the authorisation for your profession or activity, the marriage or parental deed, the certificate of registration or re-registration from your school or university, or the internship agreement.

Fee

The platform's fee table lists the long-stay visa at USD 500 per year. As with other categories, payment is online and is not refunded if the request is refused.

Procedure

Apply online, attaching the documents for your purpose. You receive an acknowledgement email, then an Entry Visa Letter once the authority approves the application. Present the letter at the visa-on-arrival counter, where your photo and fingerprints are taken and the visa is issued. On arrival, carry a passport valid for more than six months, the letter, sufficient funds and a return ticket.

  1. Prepare the document that proves your purpose: contract, authorisation, family deed, enrolment or internship agreement.
  2. Choose the long-stay visa (VLS) on the platform, upload the documents and pay USD 500.
  3. Wait for the acknowledgement and then the Entry Visa Letter.
  4. At the arrival counter, give biometrics and receive the visa.
  5. Before the year ends, apply again with a copy of the previous visa.

Renewal

The visa is valid for one year. For a renewal (prorogation), the platform asks for a scan of the previous visa along with the other documents, and the yearly fee applies again.

Refusals and what to carry

The long-stay visa is not granted automatically: the Central Directorate of the Border Police may approve or reject the application, and the USD 500 paid is kept by the administration in either case. Make sure the purpose document, such as an employment contract approved by the authorities or an enrolment certificate, matches the category you chose. On arrival the border police check a passport valid for more than six months, the Entry Visa Letter, proof of sufficient funds in cash, traveller’s cheques or cards, and a valid return ticket. Questions and complaints about online applications go to support@paf.gov.gn.
