Who needs a tourist visa

The MREMH's Directorate of Visas and Naturalisation publishes the list of countries whose nationals must present a visa to enter Ecuador. It includes Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Ghana, India, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Nepal, Syria, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen, China and others; Haitian nationals must also complete a tourist registration before travelling. Nationals of countries not on the list enter with their passport and no visa.

How long tourists may stay

Article 56 of the Organic Law on Human Mobility lets tourists stay up to 90 days within a one-year period counted from their first entry. The stay can be extended once by up to 90 additional days, on request and payment of the fee. Tourists may not work. Plan trips so that the total time in Ecuador within the year from your first entry stays within these limits; longer stays require a residence or visitor visa.

The tourist visa for special-regime nationals

Nationals of the special-regime countries apply online on e-VISAS with a colour JPG photo (maximum 1 MB, 5 x 5 cm, white background), a passport valid for at least six months, a criminal record certificate from the country of origin or residence in the last five years (over 18, apostilled or legalised, translated and no more than 180 days old), proof of lawful means of support under Ministerial Agreement 70 of 28 June 2024, the travel itinerary and return tickets. The visa is valid for 90 days from entry. The same nationals can request an extension visa for up to 90 more days, once, on the same terms and fee.
