Authority and legal basis

The long-stay visa is issued by the Ministry of the Interior through its Service for Immigration and Foreign Visas at Cap 200 in Moroni. eRegulations cites Article 5 of Law No. 88-025 of 29 December 1988 on the entry and stay of foreigners and the order on visa and passport duties. The procedure it documents is the long-stay visa for a business founder, using the case of a foreign investor.

The investor file

Bring the long-stay visa application form, filled in on the spot in front of the official; the articles of association of the company registered with the trade register; the investment approval decision or the investment project certificate, both issued by the ANPI (the national investment promotion agency); the current year’s business licence (patente); the certificate of registration in the trade and personal property credit register; the lease; the original passport with a copy; a criminal record extract from your country of origin less than three months old; three passport photos; and a copy of the identity document of your Comorian partner or partners.

Fee

The annual long-stay visa costs KMF 125,000, paid in cash when filing; you receive a payment receipt and a receipt for the passport you hand over. If the application is refused, the complete file, including the KMF 125,000, is returned to the investor. The UN mission separately lists a one-year visa at EUR 250 and a ten-year visa at EUR 500.

Two steps

Step one is the application at the immigration service, open Monday to Thursday from 07:30 to 14:30, Friday until 11:00 and Saturday until 12:00: about 5 to 10 minutes in line and at the counter, after which you get an appointment. Step two, five to seven days later, is collecting the visa in person at the same service. The head of the service is listed on +269 332 06 83.

  1. Register your company and obtain the ANPI approval or investment certificate.
  2. Obtain a criminal record extract less than three months old from your home country.
  3. Go to the immigration service at Cap 200, Moroni, fill in the form and hand over the file and passport.
  4. Pay KMF 125,000 in cash and keep the receipts and appointment.
  5. Collect the long-stay visa in person five to seven days later.

Renewal

The long-stay visa is granted for one year and is renewable. Keep the company’s business licence and registration up to date, since the current-year patente is part of the file.
