Schengen consulates in Qatar received 102,930 short-stay visa applications in 2025, the 27th highest number of any country, and issued 85,623 visas. 15.1% of applications were refused (worldwide: 14.6%). In 2024 the rate was much the same, 15.9%. The number of applications was almost unchanged (105,290 in 2024).
Most applications went to France (23,174), Germany (19,531), Spain (12,932) and Switzerland (12,549).
Among the states with at least 500 applications, the lowest refusal rate was Switzerland’s (7.2%) and the highest Bulgaria’s (56.6%). The sharpest rise since 2024 was at the consulates of Bulgaria (+26.6 points), the largest fall at those of Croatia (−12.1 points).
Bulgaria and Romania began issuing Schengen visas on 31 March 2024, so their 2024 figures cover part of the year. The numbers include every nationality applying in Qatar.
