Greece’s embassies and consulates outside the Schengen area received 704,973 short-stay visa applications in 2025, the 6th highest number among the 28 Schengen states, and issued 596,646 visas. The refusal rate was 14.5%. That is barely different from 2024 (13.2%). The number of applications was almost unchanged (710,024 in 2024).

The busiest countries were Turkey (310,920), Russia (67,579), India (41,009), China (37,794) and the United Kingdom (36,089). Among the ten busiest, refusal rates ranged from 4.5% in the Philippines to 33.8% in Egypt.
