Greece visa for Chinese citizens

Greece’s tourist visa costs €90 at the standard rate published by its authorities. Processing time, as Greece states it: Decision normally within 15 calendar days of an admissible application; longer in individual cases that need more checks (the Visa Code allows up to 45 days). Longest stay on the tourist visa: Up to 90 days in any 180-day period in the whole Schengen area.

In 2025, Greece’s embassy and consulates in China (Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou) received 37,794 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 35,717. 4.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 7.0%: the rate fell by 2.3 points. Applications fell by 14% compared with 2024 (43,702).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 4.0% of the applications lodged in China that year, from 1.3% at the consulates of Luxembourg to 19.3% at those of Malta. Greece’s consulates worldwide refused 14.5%. Greece was the 11th most applied-for Schengen state in China.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in China, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
