France: visa decisions in Thailand
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 42,715 | 40,882 | 1,861 | 4.4% | 41.1% |
| 2024 | 39,210 | 37,253 | 1,808 | 4.6% | 32.8% |
| 2025 | 37,707 | 35,457 | 2,142 | 5.7% | 33.3% |
In 2025, France’s embassy and consulates in Thailand (Bangkok) received 37,707 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 35,457. 5.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 4.6%. Applications fell by 4% compared with 2024 (39,210).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.9% of the applications lodged in Thailand that year, from 2.0% at the consulates of Romania to 28.7% at those of Poland. France’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. France was the most applied-for Schengen state in Thailand.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Thailand, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
