Netherlands: visa decisions in Taiwan
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 106 | 91 | 9 | 9.0% | 46.2% |
| 2024 | 135 | 113 | 9 | 7.2% | 40.7% |
| 2025 | 157 | 134 | 18 | 11.7% | 27.6% |
In 2025, the Netherlands’ embassy and consulates in Taiwan (Taipei) received 157 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 134. The refusal rate was 11.7%. The refusal rate rose by 4.5 points from 7.2% in 2024. Applications rose by 16% compared with 2024 (135).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 6.5% of the applications lodged in Taiwan that year. the Netherlands’ consulates worldwide refused 17.7%. The Netherlands was the 5th most applied-for Schengen state in Taiwan.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Taiwan, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
