France: visa decisions in South Korea

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 72858912717.7% 7.3%
2024 7075998812.8% 12.2%
2025 6815798012.1% 15.9%

In 2025, France’s embassy and consulates in South Korea (Seoul) received 681 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 579. The refusal rate was 12.1%. That is barely different from 2024 (12.8%). Applications fell by 4% compared with 2024 (707).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 11.5% of the applications lodged in South Korea that year. France’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. France was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in South Korea.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in South Korea, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
