France: visa decisions in Panama
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 120 | 103 | 15 | 12.5% | 31.1% |
| 2024 | 110 | 99 | 5 | 4.8% | 24.2% |
| 2025 | 150 | 128 | 7 | 5.2% | 9.4% |
In 2025, France’s embassy and consulates in Panama (Panama City) received 150 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 128. The refusal rate was 5.2%. That is barely different from 2024 (4.8%). Applications rose by 36% compared with 2024 (110).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 6.4% of the applications lodged in Panama that year. France’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. France was the 2nd most applied-for Schengen state in Panama.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Panama, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
